WV State Coaches Meeting
July 19, 2008 - minutes

  1. State Meet

    • Date for the State Meet: March 28-29, 2009

    • The State Meet will consist of all levels in one meet.

    • Bids for the State Meet are due by November 1, 2008.
       

  2. Clubs of the Year

    • A form will be distributed to each club at the State Meet for voting on the Optional Club of the

    • Year and the Compulsory Club of the Year.

    • Voting will take place at the end of the State Meet.

    • All votes must be placed within one hour after the awards of the WV State Championships.
       

  3. State Qualifier Medals

    • There will be NO State Qualifier Medals.

    • More athletes will be awarded medals at this season's championships.

    • All competing gymnasts will receive an All-Around Award and it would be redundant to award another medal.
       

  4. Education Fund

    • There will be an increase to the State portion of the Head Tax of $0.50 to a total of $1.00 to fund the Education Account.

    • The State Head Tax was also amended to place ALL of the State Head Tax money into the Education Account to assist in paying for the expenses of attending the Regional and National Congresses.

    • This will be reviewed at the end of the 2008-2009 Competitive Season.
       

  5. Coaching Attire

    • All coaches are required to to follow the USAG requirement of "appropriate" coaching attire.

    • Please read your Rules & Policies for details.
       

  6. Individual Event Specialists

    • State Qualifying Score: 8.8 for Levels 7-10.

    • Regional Qualifying Score: 9.0 for Levels 9-10 only.

    • Level 7 gymnasts do not go to Regional Meets.

    • Level 8 gymnasts must compete as All-Arounds to qualify for the Regional Meet.

    • Billy Bob will make a proposal to the Regional Chairman of WV's concerns involving IES mobility.
       

  7. WV Gymnasts Estimate

    • Each club present at the meeting listed their estimated number of competing gymnasts.

    • All clubs, with the exception of one, have submitted their estimate number of competing gymnasts for the 2008-2009 competition season.

    • WV's number of competing gymnasts should exceed 350 this season.
       

  8. State Invitational Meets

    • All clubs present listed their meet dates.

    • Some meet dates may overlap.

    • There should be enough WV gymnasts to make all the meets successful.

    • Visit the Meet Schedule to view all WV Invitational Meets.
       

  9. Technique Magazine

    • Continue reading the Technique Magazine to stay informed of changes within the sport.

    • The State Chair will continue to send information to each professional member, however...

    • Information regarding our sport is obtainable faster through the website and in Technique Magazine.
       

  10. USAG Professional Membership

    • Keep your professional membership up to date.

    • Renewing lapsed professional memberships and all new professional memberships will take longer due to the background checks that are now required.
       

  11. WV USAG Board Members

    • Notices were sent out for Board Member nominations.

    • Several nominations have been received. The more involvement the stronger our organization becomes.

    • Resumes of each qualified member nominated will be sent to each professional member along with a ballot to place your vote.

    • You may vote for four people.

    • You must use the original ballot sent to you. Duplicate ballots will not be permitted.

    • You must include your current USAG number; without a valid USAG number that ballot will be considered invalid.
       

  12. End of season Meets

    • State Meet:

      • March 28-29, 2009

    • Regional Meets:

      • Level 8: To Be Determined

      • Level 9: April 17-19, 2009

      • Level 10: April 25-26, 2009

    • National Meets:

      • Level 9: May 7-10, 2009

      • Level 10: May 14-16, 2009

    • National Invitational Meet:

      • Level 10: May 17, 2009
